I have my top 3 favorite web host for WordPress. They are my go-to because I’ve used them before and I love them. All three web hosts, haven’t given me many problems (or any at all). 99% of the time, if I am contacting them it’s because I have questions about something that I want to adjust with my hosting plan or maybe an option I just can’t find.
You should never overlook your web host and just go with a free or cheap one. I can guarantee that you will run into many limitations and problems will arise.
If you want a reliable website and would prefer that your site withstand the growth of your brand, then take this seriously. A web host is one of the most important factors.
I’m sure you’ve been browsing the web and going over your options. I know it can feel overwhelming, with all the web hosts and then reading through all the features and prices to consider. It’s not always easy, especially if this isn’t where you shine. Hopefully, by the time you are done reading this article, you may find your answer.
I’m a web designer, which means that I create amazing websites for authors and amazing freelance businesses. I design, maintain, and set up hosting for my clients. I love my job and my happy clients. Most importantly, I love finding services that simply work. I don’t have the time to fuss over a web host that only works sometimes. My clients don’t have the time to constantly worry if their website will be online today.
My clients trust me and I ONLY use web hosts that I trust and have used before.
What You Should Consider
I’ll keep this simple and to the point:
- Reliability
- Speed
- Security
All web hosts have this information on their websites. Google them, and read reviews on their services and what they are offering. Reviews will help you decide if they are a good host or horrible. Make sure that you verify if they support WordPress hosting.
What Kind of Hosting do You Need?
That all depends on your needs. Usually, the options are Free, Shared, VPS, Dedicated and Managed.
Free WordPress Hosting
There are many free options for WordPress out there, but like I said free doesn’t give you room to grow. Free doesn’t allow you to create amazing and professional websites. Free limits you, and you, my dear reader are limitless. Your brand should be valued.
Shared WordPress Hosting
This option is by far the most popular. Especially for beginners, because it’s affordable and for someone new, or maybe you have a small business but this option may be all you need. A lot of my personal businesses have started and most have stayed on shared hosting.
The only downside to shared hosting is that some may limit your features:
- Webspace
- Monthly visitors
Those are the most important features. Let’s say your growth surpasses those main features, then the web host will enforce that you upgrade. If you don’t upgrade then, your website will not work properly. A shared host means that you are sharing server space with a lot of other websites. In other words, if your website is sucking up too much of the shared resources that will ruin the performance of all the other websites on the shared server.
Why is there Hosting and then, WordPress hosting?
There’s not that big of a difference, but a web host is a shared hosting that is generalized in the sense that it caters to all kinds of websites. WordPress is one of the many different options out there.
WordPress hosting is on a shared hosting plan as well, but now the hosting plan caters to ONLY WordPress services. You can get the same amount of support on a regular web host, and a WordPress hosting plan.
Dedicated Servers
If you would rather have full control over a server, meaning operating system, hardware etc. Then this path is for you. You will have to lease a server from the web host but this option isn’t for you if you are a small business. This option is for those generating high traffic.
Managed WordPress Hosting
The web host will manage your WordPress site. They will keep your performance high, site secure, and have regular backups. The annual cost for this kind of hosting plan will be on the higher side but if you don’t want the hassle of managing your WordPress website, maybe this might be an option for you.
My Recommended Web Hosts
I recommend these sites because problems that arise are few to none. They are reliable and I love using them.
