We are going to recreate the About Page from one of my predesigned Author Websites.

Note: My setting, fonts, colors are obviously different than yours. Your settings aren’t set in the backend, to look like exactly like this premade theme. However, I am showing you how to create the layout of that page and your end result will be the structural design of the About Page. As you follow through with these instructions and design more pages on your own, you will quickly learn the Avada theme.

Lets Get Started

Once you have you a page created or opened up, to the right side of the page, edit ‘Page Attributes> Templates: Default Template.

Under the Page Title, there will be two blue buttons.

Click on Avada Builder.

When the WordPress editor switches over, click on +Container.

Container and Columns are structural layout of all page/posts created within the Avada Builder.

When the container element loads, you will click on 1/1. That is the first container that loads.

Rename the container to: Page Title.

Its a good idea as you start to use Avada, to get into the habit of naming your containers. It will help you keep everything organized and not all over the place.

Add Page Title

Click on +Element

Scroll down until you get to the element H Title(H stands for Heading), or you can type into the search bar Title.

Once selected, type in the text box: ABOUT AUTHOR.

Now, on the top blue bar, click on Design and edit the following.

  1. Alignment: Center
  2. HTML Heading Size: H1
  3. Font color: #76133c
  4. Separator: None
  5. Save this section

Update this page.

It’s good practice to save your progress as you edit pages/posts. It’s not because WordPress or Avada randomly stop working, it’s good knowing that you saved your work.

About Author

We are going to create another container by keeping your mouse within the white space of the container. Scroll down near the bottom of the white container, and two buttons should appear.

Click on Container.

Create on the 1/3 2/3 Container.

Rename this container: About Author.

As you use Avada more and more, get into the habit of naming your containers. It will help you keep everything organized and not all over the place.

Edit 1/3 Column

Author Image 400 px by 485px

I will always recommend a high quality image, if you are able to upload one. However, if you don’t have one, that is fine as well. The image may look slightly blurry.

  1. Within the 1/3 column, click on +Element.
  2. Scroll down until you find Image, or in the search bar, tope right type in Image.
  3. Click on Upload Image and find your image on your device.

Once your image is uploaded, make sure that you have it selected.

To your far right, you should see ATTACHMENT DETAILS.

Scroll down until you get to Size and click on the drop-down and select: Full Size.

Sometimes WordPress may default an image to a smaller size, and that may be reason why your image may show blurry or not as big.

Click on the blue button, ‘Insert into Page’.

Now, scroll down this section and edit the following:

  1. Image lightbox: No
  2. Save This section.

Edit 2/3 Column

  1. Click on +Element and find Text Block.
  2. Scroll down, until you get to the text editor and place in your author information.
  3. Font Color: #353535
  4. Save this section

Social Media Links

  1. Click on +Element and find Social Links.
  2. Fill in your social media links. You can fill in none, or all, or just a few. It’s up to you.

On the top blue bar, click on Design and edit the following:

  1. Alignment: Left.
  2. Boxed Style: Yes.
  3. Box Border Radius: 25px.
  4. Color Type: Brand Colors.

Bottom right, click on Save.

Update This Page.

More ways to connect

  1. Create a new 1/1 Container.
  2. Rename this container: More Ways To Connect

Blue Bar that is connected to your container, click on the Pen Icon.

On the blue bar, click on Design and edit the following:

  1. Margin ↑: 30px.
  2. Padding (all): 0px.

On the blue bar, click on Background and edit the following:

  1. Container Background Color: #ededed.

This background may look odd on your website because like stated above the settings, fonts, features are set differently.

Click on blue button Save.

Edit 1/4 Container(s)

We are going to start with the first 1/4 column.

  1. +Element > Button
  2. Button Text: Readers Group (Follow On Amazon, Follow On Bookbub, Goodreads Follow)
  3. Button URL: Copy and paste your Reader’s Group URL.
  4. Text Transform: Uppercase
